PETICIONES DE ADHESIÓN AL TERRITORIO DE LA NUEVA PROVINCIA DE ALBACETE (1834-1837)

RESUMEN 

La última división territorial realizada por Javier de Burgos en 1833, motivada entre otras causas por la desmedida extensión de algunas de las provincias existentes, como Cuenca, Ciudad Real y Murcia, posibilitó la creación de la nueva provincia de Albacete.
En este contexto, el presente trabajo muestra, a través de documentos inéditos y de un excepcional mapa del territorio de referencia, los esfuerzos realizados por un determinado número de poblaciones -situadas al Norte del río Júcar, que, conscientes de las ventajas que les reportaría el hecho de formar parte de la nueva provincia creada, elevarán hasta las más altas instancias sus peticiones, argumentando en las mismas, razones de peso (usos, costumbres, distancias, población, etc.) para lograr esta inclusión.

ABSTRACT           

The last territorial division carried out by Javier de Burgos in 1833 made it possible the creation of the new province of Albacete. These sepa- ration could be motivated among other causes, by the disproportionate extension of some provinces such as Cuenca, Ciudad Real and Murcia.
In this context and though unpublished documents this essay intends to show the big efforts made by those villages located to the North of Júcar river. Being aware of the great advantages of taking part of the new province. They submitted their appeal to supreme authorities by arguing powerful reasons (useges, customs, distances, population...) for them to be included.
